Dissing Radio

A couple of weeks ago, Jim helped me break my Radio software while playing with activeRender. After I had removed all of the activeRenderer components (a less-than-intuitive process), I still had problems. Remove more, still problems.

I finally had given up on Radio, and thought maybe I'd just go to Movabletype, which is something I've really wanted to do anyways. After trying some of the Radio->MovableType conversion "scripts", and realizing that I'd have to learn some Python to use them (why people don't use Perl for these things is beyond me), I had renewed energy to get Radio working, at least until the next time I feel more motivated to make the switch.

After moving files around, double-checking all the settings, learning more about the various settings in Radio, I figured out that part of the problem wasn't Radio at all: Internet Explorer wasn't actually grabbing the latest index.html file off my Apache server (I guess that IE needs to be re-started once in a while). I can say that was a pretty frustrating realization, as I've spent quite a bit of time fixing this (which hasn't done much for my blogging time).

So, I am with Radio for a while longer, at least until the next time I try some new feature.

"why people don't use Perl for these things is beyond me".

Hee hee. After you learn Python and try using it, you'll discover your own answer to that question.

Here is one person's answer:
