Klamath ... Falls?
Well, we made it to Klamath Falls. We spent a few hours in Winnemucca doing some preemptive maintenance work (replaced the battery, regulator and alternator and a couple of belts) after the motor home had problems starting. I figure a few hours in front of a Car Quest instead of on a desolate highway is well worth it. It paid off, we made it without any other problems. So far the maiden voyage of the Brown Streak, as we've taken to calling It, is going better than expected.
We are trying to find out where the Klamath Falls are, or if they even exist. There's lots to do around this area, but going to see Klamath Falls is not on any of the lists of activities we've seen so far.
We're staying at the Running Y ranch, which is a huge resort a few miles northwest of Klamath. My brother's family is staying at the KOA in Klamath, so we'll get plenty of chances to drive the around Klamath.
No Verizon 3G service in Klamath. I'm starting to wonder if Sprint might be a better choice for some parts of the country. Fortunately, I can get 50+kb/s dial-up to UofU.net so it's tolerable. Not that I care too much; I'm only on-line while we're driving and there's nothing else interesting to do. But tonight I may upload some of the pictures I've taken so far, just leave the modem running all night.
We're headed up to Crater Lake today. Should be spectacular.
