Developing belief
To develop belief, you must do things that require you to believe.
I heard this statement recently, or something really close to it. I think it applies to many intangible aspects of the things we do.
Many of the things I do require belief in something that is unclear, undefined, or may be perceived as undoable. I find often that whether I believe in the ultimate result or not has a huge impact on whether I achieve that result. It is often difficult to work towards a result that can only be imagined vaguely, but those difficulties are practice that makes the next project easier to do, though it may still not have a tangible result at the start.
Being motivated by belief causes your mind to focus on opportunities that will help you achieve what to others might appear unlikely. I am constantly surprised at the subtle opportunities that arise because I was tuned to them as a result of believing in the project I was working on. Those opportunities would have gone un-noticed if I had believed otherwise. Finding them made the belief become reality.
