Cisco sets a record

Troy writes about Cisco's handling of the recent IOS vulnerability, and how the time from public announcement to exploit availability (seven hours) must have set a record.

I believe that Cisco could have handled this better, and made it easier for their customers to protect themselves before the exploit was developed.

I think we also have to find ways to respond faster. Even if Cisco had given us advanced notice, we're now finding that we probably couldn't have moved fast enough to protect more than the most critical parts of the network, anyways. We need to develop practices and methods that will allow us to respond faster and more efficiently to these kinds of situations.

After we finish with this one...
